Observe the Scholars

NBS Seminar Storyteller in Residence

Each year the NBS Seminar scholars meet. Using biblical performance criticism. they watch and discuss performances of selected scripture. The Seminar usually takes place Sunday - Tuesday prior to the Festival Gathering. To request participation in the seminar as a scholar, email our coordinator, Dr. Phil Ruge-Jones.

As part of their work in biblical performance criticism, a select few biblical storytellers are chosen by application to internalize and tell scriptures that are being addressed by the scholars. These limited, volunteer opportunities fill quickly.

On the last day of the seminar, a limited number of observers are invited to watch the work of the scholars.  The NBS Seminar participants will host lunch tables and will be leading multiple workshops so we invite you to engage them during these opportunities: Look for information at the Festival Gathering about how to connect with the scholars while you are onsite.
