Biblical Storytelling in Cameroon
Rev. George Vimensi Minang heads the very active NBS Cameroon. After two NBSI Institutes in 2013, he has traveled the NW and SW regions of the country, teaching the art of biblical storytelling in villages and in seminary. NBSI Cameroon also sponsors a weekly radio program of multi-lingual biblical storytelling!
Rev. Vimensi Minang attended the first NBSI Institute in The Gambia, organized by Juliana Rowe (originally of Sierra Leone) in 2011, and caught the fire for the art! He continues to support efforts there.
Biblical Storytelling in Rwanda
Janice Kim from Korea has this to share with us.
A missionary couple, Mr. Ryu and Hwang (Mrs. Ryu), and their two children moved to Rwanda Kigali in October 2022. This couple had studied biblical storytelling with us in Korea and attended FG 2019. After studying both local languages, Kinyarwanda and French, the couple established a base in Kigali and began sharing the wonderful stories from the Gospels.
The local missionary from Korea was invited to share the story of the Messiah’s birth at a small village school, impoverished in every way but welcoming nonetheless. The missionary said, “This Christmas, I told them the story of the birth of Jesus, the Messiah" (Matthew 1:18-25) in their language, Kinyarwanda. This was my first storytelling performance in Kinyarwanda. My poor pronunciation would have made the kids think it was funny, but I’m sure I passed on my feelings about Jesus’ birth to them.”
We send Love to the Ryus as they sow seeds of the Word in the land of their calling.
